Mammacord II

Mammacord, meaning umbilical cord, is an invented word which is intended to convey the idea of memory.

The exhibition is the second part of the series, begun in 1997, which explores feelings during pregnancy and childbirth.

The works represent pages from a diary and are constructed from dyed paper pulp into which organic and other material has been incorporated. Photographs and computer-manipulated imagery has been transferred onto some of the pieces using transfer printing.
